Campos Mello boosts real estate practice with Souza Cescon hire

8 Novembro 2012

Brazil’s Campos Mello Advogados has boosted its real estate practice with the hire of an associate from Souza, Cescon, Barrieu e Flesch - Advogados as partner. Ivandro Trevelim, 37, made the move to Campos Mello on 24 October and will be based in São Paulo. The latest addition increases the partnership at the firm to 18.

Trevelim has been working in real estate law for 16 years and has experience advising on contracts and residential and commercial real estate developments, as well as agribusiness, real estate financing and investment funds.

While an associate at Souza Cescon, he assisted US telecoms infrastructure group American Tower in the acquisition of a network of phone towers .

Trevelim says he decided to make the move to Campos Mello because he wanted to be part of one of the leading firms in real estate work at a time of “many interesting and important real estate projects” being developed in Brazil.

Souza Cescon partner Ronald Herscovici says the firm’s real estate practice will continue be lead by Gabriel Seijo along with six associates and that Trevelim did not leave with any clients nor team members.

“During my many years of real estate practice, I had the chance to cover all matters related to real estate law and business,” says Trevelim. “I am proud to have assisted clients in many developments that became landmarks in São Paulo, including triple A buildings, luxury malls, residential developments in the countryside and also the constitution of real estate investment funds for developers.”

Trevelim’s hire fits with a strategy being pursued by Campos Mello to boost headcount in São Paulo in response to vastly increasing workflow in the real estate area.

“We are looking for the right mix of senior and young partners to increase our practice in the main cities of the country,” explains Campos Mello partner Fabio Campos Mello. “In the last two years we promoted eight partners from our own ranks, but when we spot an excellent lawyer we try to bring him to our partnership.”

Mello adds: “Ivandro is well skilled in the capital markets related to real estate, as well as built to suit, acquisitions and general real estate work.”
